For over 60 years, the U.S. National Science Foundation National Center for Atmospheric Research (NSF NCAR) has been at the forefront of Earth system science, providing resources such as supercomputers, research aircraft, advanced computer models, and extensive datasets. Join NSF NCAR educator Evan Portier to learn about this six-decade journey and how NSF NCAR research is addressing our most pressing scientific challenges, protecting lives, and strengthening our national security.

Evan Portier
Evan Portier is an informal educator with the NSF NCAR Education, Engagement & Early-Career Development team where he focuses on engaging public audiences about NSF NCAR’s research. He holds a B.S in Environmental Science from the University of California, Berkeley. His work has taken him across the United States, working on long-term ecological projects and understanding biogeochemical processes in agricultural ecosystems. Over the past ten years, he has developed a passion for science outreach and communication and has worked for several non-profit organizations and government agencies in this space.
