Amid the recent outbreak of wildfires across the United States, the issue is at the top of mind for many. Wildfires have major impacts on society, including loss of lives, destruction of property, increased levels of smoke that affects our health, and economic damage. 

In this second Explorer Series Conversation on Wildfire, NSF NCAR scientist Jason Knievel will share highlights from recent advancements in the Research Application Laboratory on predicting and modeling fire behavior, and how this research helps firefighters, local authorities, and resource managers direct their efforts.
