Have you ever looked inside a Supercomputer? Join a guided tour inside a Derecho compute node! We will dive deep into the heart of the machine, exploring the processors, memory, and specialized components that keep it running cool and communicating. You'll see firsthand how thousands of these nodes working together form the Derecho supercomputer.

In their Explorer Series Conversation, join NSF NCAR Systems Engineer Jenett Tillotson and Hewlett Packard Enterprises Systems Engineer Connor Scott as we examine the brains of the supercomputer that empowers the research of NSF NCAR.

Jenett Tillotson

Computational and Information Systems Lab (CISL), NSF NCAR

Jenett Tillotson is a Senior HPC Systems Engineer in the Computational and Information Systems Lab division of NSF NCAR where she has worked since 2019. Since 2004, she has been part of supporting several of the fastest supercomputers in the world including Derecho, NSF NCAR's current flagship supercomputer. Ms. Tillotson has led the student programs of several HPC conferences including the annual SC supercomputing conference and the Practice & Experience in Advanced Research Computing (PEARC) conference. She mentors student workers and is working on an HPC Systems textbook.

Ms. Tillotson has a Master's degree in Computer Science and Cognitive Science from Indiana University and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Iowa State University. In her free time she enjoys live music concerts, playing the piano, traveling across the country in her camper van, and being involved with the local makerspace.
