Our Mission

NSF NCAR Education, Engagement & Early-Career Development (EdEC) directly underpins NSF NCAR’s mission and the National Science Foundation’s vision to support, enhance, and extend the capabilities of the university community and the broader scientific community, and to foster the transfer of knowledge and technology for the betterment of life on Earth. Specifically, EdEC is committed to:

Goal 1: Inspire, engage, and inform the public about the atmospheric and related sciences conducted by NSF NCAR and the university community.

Goal 2: Entrain and prepare a highly skilled workforce for careers in the atmospheric and Earth-related sciences.

Goal 3: Support the university community in educating students in the atmospheric and related sciences.

Goal 4: Coordinate and increase opportunities for professional development and training of early-career staff.
