The attached document contains tips that were generated during the 2017 and 2016 postdoc retreats. Experienced postdocs answered questions from first-year postdocs and added tips and strategies during the discussions.

Information about the various ASP programs and some tips to make working outside of the NSF NCAR facilities better.

The postdoc handbook helps the incoming ASP postdoc get the most out of their time here at NCAR. There is information specifically regarding the ASP and also includes general information about NCAR.

The form should be used as a communication tool between the postdoc and the mentor or host. Postdocs should take the lead in completing and updating the IDP.

ASP fellows are expected to present one Research Review each year. This document provides some tips for a successful Research Review Presentation.

Committees/Service
ASP postdoctoral fellows provide ongoing advice to the Director and organize the Thompson Lectures and the Research Reviews. Other service options include acting as the ASP representative on the Early Career Scientist Assembly steering committee and in supporting the Fellows Networking Committee. Membership on these Committees evolves from year to year as the fellows come and go from the program.

The Advanced Study Program is a sustaining member of the National Postdoctoral Association (NPA). The NPA has a content-rich website that is full of opportunities and advice for those who are currently postdocs and for those who plan to be postdocs.
