Consider signing up for the following activities:

Monday & Tuesday Dinner Meetup Sign-up Sheet 
Arriving on Monday night and interested in meeting up for dinner? Add your name to the sign-up list, and we’ll take care of organizing it. So far, the preferred dinner reservation time is 7:00 PM. There are several restaurants within a 5–10 minute walk.

Share-a-Thon Signup Sheet 
Share something that works well in your program! For example, team-building activities, social event ideas, mentor structures (e.g., involving grad students), lists of deliverables and deadlines for mentors, program calendars, handbooks for interns and mentors, rubrics, letters for placing applicants on a waiting list, and more.

Poster Signup Sheet 
Bring a poster you’ve created or want to create. If you’re making a new one, use a large font, plenty of images or figures, and keep the text minimal.

Volunteer Signup Sheet 
Many of you have expressed interest in volunteering at the workshop. We’ll have working sessions where we self-organize to lead discussions in breakout groups. Sign up to help facilitate these sessions.

Getting to the Hotel 

A. Rideshare and Taxis: Uber, Lyft , and taxi are convenient options, costing $25 to $50 depending on the time of day. Travel time is about 10-20 minutes. 

B. Public Transportation - Valley Metro Rail:
1. Take the PHX Sky Train from the airport to the 44th Street/Washington station.
2. At the 44th Street/Washington station, transfer to the Valley Metro Rail.
3. Take the Valley Metro Rail westbound to the Washington/Central Ave station 
4. From the 1st Ave/Jefferson station, it's a short 2-minute walk to the hotel.

C. Parking:  Parking near the Renaissance Phoenix can be arranged using this link.  Enter the hotel's address: 100 N 1st St, Phoenix, AZ 85004 to find nearby parking garages. Please note that rental cars and parking fees are not covered by NSF NCAR.

Hotel Check-in:  Monday, Oct. 28th at 4:00 PM. 

Dinner Meetup:  On Monday evening, if you have the energy, join us in the hotel lobby between 6:30 and 6:45 PM and we will walk to a nearby restaurant for a 7:00 PM reservation. You can browse restaurant options here. This is an opportunity to connect over a meal. Note: Dinner is at your own expense.To give us a headcount for the reservations sign up here and we'll get in touch beforehand.

Monday, Oct 28th - Evening of the Workshop
  • Travel to Phoenix: We recommend arriving before 5 PM.
  • 4:00 PM onwards – Hotel check-in
  • 6:30 PM – Meet in the hotel lobby between 6:30 and 6:45 PM to walk to dinner. Go to the the dinner signup sheet. 
Tuesday, Oct 29th - Day One
  • 7:30 - 8:00 AM – Registration, coffee and light breakfast
  • 8:00 - 11:45 AM  – Morning workshop session, breaking at 9:30 AM
  • 11:45 - 1:15 PM – Lunch (off site)  
  • 1:15 - 3:15 PM – Afternoon workshop session
  • 3:15 - 4:30 PM - Share-a-Thon - Share-a-Thon signup sheet
  • 4:30 - 5:15 PM – Poster session - Poster signup sheet
  • Join us for dinner at a nearby restaurant - Dinner signup sheet
Wednesday, Oct 30th - Day Two 
  • 7:15 - 8:00 AM – Coffee and light breakfast
  • 8:0 - 12:00 PM – Morning workshop Session, breaking at 10:00 AM
  • 12:00 - 1:00 PM – Lunch buffet provided 
  • 1:00 - 3:00 PM – Afternoon workshop session
  • 3:00 PM – Wrap-up and good-byes
For SACNAS Attendees:
  • 4:00 PM or later – Join us to go to SACNAS to register and attend events

Hotel check-out: Wednesday, October 30th at 11 AM. Luggage storage can be arranged with the hotel front desk.
